Counselling
Starting therapy, or continuing a therapy journey, can feel like a big step. We all experience times when we need support for life’s journey, some of which can feel hard to be with or make sense out of.
I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor, offering sessions online and in person at my room between Newton Abbot and Ashburton. I bring a warm and relatable approach, creating a safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore your experiences, thoughts, feelings and beliefs.

My key training included Gestalt Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I'm also very much influenced by my extensive experience of mindfulness, meditation and relational inquiry, and so this can also inform the work we do together. I also practice using the framework of Internal Family Systems (IFS), which I find to be a powerful framework for relating to our inner experiences.

I offer both short term counselling to address issues in your life now as well as longer term therapy to look at deeper roots of what you are experiencing.

It is my intention to offer a space where you can safely explore what is happening for you, without judgement. Being an Integrative therapist means that I can creatively and respectfully lean into a number of different ways of working, according to what you feel is most supportive. This might involve talking about your personal history, and making connections to how you experience the here-and-now. It might involve looking at thought patterns, and exploring emotions. You might like to explore embodiment - how your lived experience is known in your body. Therapy might mean cultivating a sense of presence and inquiring into your unfolding present moment experience, or finding greater understanding through images and the 'imaginal' - on paper or by inner images that can be tracked as a waking dream. Therapy may also offer a doorway to identify and take deep care of the parts of ourselves that we have previously exiled.

As a trauma-informed therapist, I can also work safely with you if you have had difficult or distressing life experiences that are affecting you, drawing on my understanding of trauma-informed practices and theory (such as Polyvagal theory).

I hold a holistic view of a person that includes body, mind and spirit or soul. You don't need to share this view to work with me. As a person-centred therapist, I will always take my lead from your perspective. But if you are drawn to it, we can also use the therapeutic journey to explore what might be called questions of the soul. Why am I here? What is my purpose? How do I experience inter-connectedness? What is the nature of consciousness? These are but a tiny fraction of the sort of questions that might light our curiosity as we contemplate this mysterious life, and I can offer a space for you to explore using your own embodied experience as a compass.

I believe that we all have great capacity not only for healing but for realising our great potential. I'm very inspired by the role that therapy can have in moving in this direction. I look forward to hearing from you if my approach resonates with you, or if you have questions.

Sessions and Fees
I offer a free initial, no obligation meeting of 30 minutes for you to ask questions and to find out a bit more about how we might work together. This is an opportunity for you to get a sense of whether this is a good fit for you at this time.
If you would like to continue we will then arrange a full session, where we can look more closely at your reasons for coming to therapy. If this continues to feel like a good fit for you, and if I feel able to meet your therapeutic needs, we usually agree to meet weekly for 6-8 sessions, which will give you a good sense of the therapy. Some people then continue for longer periods of time, and others choose a shorter and time-limited path.
Sessions cost £50 and are for 60 minutes. Financial accessibility is important to me, and so if this cost is too high I have a number of reduced fee places, for which there may be a waiting list.
